Classical Yoga is the path you take to complete your life. With a mission to conserve the classical Yoga techniques worldwide, the VEDA VIDYA GURUKUL, SOUTH AFRICA, was established to spread accurate yoga knowledge and its healing capabilities behind. The goal is not to teach all the asanas (postures), but rather to impart the theories, philosophies, and deep rooted information about the traditional yoga system, kriyas, and mudras along with meditations. The primary method of teaching Classical Yoga practices has been through verbal transmissions from the Guru to the disciple. In terms of historical records, there are only a few manuscripts and shastras, or classical texts, that list its practices; however, they are dispersed throughout various texts. Classical texts are used to guide the Hatha system's integration of traditional yoga practices.
In Sanskrit, Hatha is divided into Ha and Tha. 'Ha' refers to the sun, which is a positive masculine symbol, while 'Tha' refers to the moon, which is a receptive feminine symbol. Hatha is commonly believed to refer to the union between the positive, sun-drenched inhalation (Ha) and the cleansing and cooling exhalation (Tha). Improving psycho-physical health can be achieved by utilizing Vedic Vidya, which is the first step in its purest and most traditional form. In our VEDA VIDYA GURUKUL class, we focus on providing the most effective and systematic way of traditional breathing exercises, posters, meditations and hatha kriyas. It gives practitioners the ability to master the body through mental control.
The Vedic Vidya refers to a science of techniques like asana, pranayama, mudras, and kriyas that lead the mind to a deep state of relaxation and alertness and that provide the individual with the peace of internal silence. Classical Yoga does not require adherence to any religion, prayers, idolatry, or beliefs. However, there are no restrictions that pertain to religion or personal beliefs.
